i thought y'all might like to see pictures of my new fosters oska and maya. guess what mixed breed they are?  we (crested guardians) pulled them from a shelter near d.c., owner surrenders. they are sooo sweet and just 6 mos old. they each have a blue eye, and have great blue-gray colors. cute little mohawks. very playful and active!
the little boy is oska, and the little girl is maya (if you say it with a bit of an accent, you'll get it.)

| way too cute and Hubby is even quite taken with the little girl with the bat ears even tho he doesn't usually care for 2 diff coloured eyes so surprised it me he likes her |

they are indeed absolutely precious, y'all! great little personalities and full of spunk. and their one blue eye is very striking; at first you're not sure which eye to look at. and the ears, oh yes! they had their spay and neuter today, so i pick them back up tomorrow. i sure missed them today! and i am sure i will be missing them for good very soon. i don't think i'll be fostering them long, they are so unique.
we aren't requiring that they be adopted together, but it would be really nice if they could be kept together, as they get along so well, and they make a great matched pair.
p.s. glad y'all caught the names. maybe they'll get to keep them, as they aren't toooo obvious! hehehe |

So, are they standard doxie mixes? That is a rather common mix unfortunately, but hopefully they will get homes soon. They still have a few left still awaiting homes that were turned into a local rescue.  That would be oh so ideal for them to be adopted together, they really do look like great pals! |

we believe that to be the mix. the surrendering family is not unknown to that shelter. the lady told me that the folks are "unintentional breeders" and they have been working with them, trying to get them to alter their dogs. the shelter's intake sheets on them are rather vague; the people didn't even put down the pups birthdates, just a timeframe of months, and only identified them as chinese crested. based on conversations with the shelter and physical inspection, we are calling them cc/dachshund mixes. among their other characteristics, dapple dachshunds can have a blue eye, or sometimes 2 blue eyes, i believe...but then there may be other short-legged, long-bodied dogs where that is the case. but we settled on this mix.
fortunately, they are really cute. and we are hoping they will catch some eyes. |

| oska and maya are headed to their new home on friday! i am so excited they are staying together and they are going to a great couple. they are going to have so much fun in life!! have fun little pups!! |
