|
I fell in love with a HL girl on petfinders. I paid the adoption fee and was already to bring her home! I had a short amount of time to arrange for transportation so the only way to get her home fast enough was by air.
After all was said and done, the rescue lady would not ship her to me, which I understand, as everyone has different opinions about air transportation, so she refunded the adoption fee.
The point is she is away for a month now as the dog sits in the shelter facility and I am very sad. I feel like my heart is broken and I can't stop thinking about her.
Thank you for listening, I just had to get it out. |

I know this was a very sad and disappointing end to what you thought would be a happy adoption of this little girl and you cannot help but fall in love with a particular dog and want him or her with all your heart.
Is the little girl still available? Would you be able to arrange something that the rescue lady would agree to with a little more time? Would you be able to fly down and take her back in the cabin - would that be acceptable to the lady? Would you want to try and continue the dialog with the lady when she returns? Depending on where the little girl is located, there are reputable transport companies who take rescue dogs on certain routes which might be another way to go.
You don't have to answer any of this here but think about it and see how you feel and if you have questions about how transports work, ask us and we'll see if we can come up with some ideas for you.
If none of these things would work out, please don't close your heart to another little one in need as all rescues do things differently. |

DE, I still have a glimmer of hope but a very small small glimmer.
I did look into ground transportation and the cost was about $500
She was ok with me flying there to get her but that option is not very easy to arrange with 2 small children as I am a single mom.
I'm pretty sure she's still available but I don't know for sure. I will try to contact her again and see if I get a response.
I definately will keep my heart open.
Thank you! |

| I hope you will be able to get this girl and if not this one, the one that needs you more will be around the corner. Best wishes..... |

Aww! Good luck! I understand that feeling of falling in love through a picture and waiting. When I saw my Yoda online I immediately FELL in LOVE with him and HAD to have him and because he was half way around the country, she too didn't want to ship him. But it all worked out and now I have my world with me. There is a company that I had another dog shipped across the country through group shipping and it was $300 with the vet visit before the shipping. Maybe check with them! Just keep that faith and I truely hope that it works out for you! Be sure to keep an update!

sierrapride, your baby is gorgeous - What a happy ending!!
I really appreciate the information and looked into it. The problem is this area must be remote as the nearest airport is 2 hours away and for example, the nearest pet transport pick up would be in a neighboring state. The location is making it very difficult where in other areas ground transportation doesn't seem to be so difficult to arrange.
She happened to be going to the airport that one day which would have made everything so much easier but just getting someone to transport the dog to the airport even seems to be an issue.
Like I said before, I still have a small glimmer of hope and sometimes miracles do happen. |

| Just an FYI - please investigate all transport companies thoroughly before using them and ask our rescues which ones they use to make the sure that they are reputable. |

| Hello! We had a dog flown to us across country by Delta airlines. They have a very good reputation for safely flying dogs. The breeder of our dog said she used Delta frequently. Our dog arrived in our city & was actually unloaded before the passengers were even allowed to exit the plane. The fee for across country was about $200 if I remember correctly. |

| I've heard Delta is very good. I've flown mine on Air Canada from the U.S. and my last two dogs that came off the plane looked like they had just come back from a holiday in Punta Cana. I was really impressed. |

| I also had Yoda shipped Delta, and they were great! They called me every time the plane had a stop to let me know he was safe (and how cute he was). I would recommend Delta every time! |
