Last weekend the MN Bully Lovers hosted an All-American Dog Fest at the St Paul Armory. There were lots of vendors and activities. Including a NADSR sanctioned weight pull.

In NADSR the first weight pull title, the dog needs to pull 20 times body weight for level 1.

Toby weighed in a 13.4 lbs... and was in the Pee Wee division, along with my friend's two Klee Kais. My main goal was to have him pull the big empty cart, which weighs 300lbs.

I know he can do it no problem in practice, but in the real thing... who knows! LOL!!

WELL... he DID it !! AND KEPT GOING...

AND GOING...
AND GOING...

AND GOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG YOU GUYS!!! He pulled... are you sitting down? Don't take a swig of anything right now..

HE PULLED 907.6 POUNDS!!!!! Over 67 times his body weight!!!

I have NO idea how he did it either!! There was a huge crowd gathered around us cheering!! The last few pulls, he stood there, shook his hair into place, stuck his head down and worked HARD to do it!!!

I AM STILL IN SHOCK!!! From what I understand, he shattered the old weight pulled per body weight record (the judge told me).... but I can't find anything anywhere on the website.

Then he went on to wear his Chippendales outfit and win the costume contest!! He won a big indestructible toy... so I donated it to the Pit Bull rescue.

Holy Cow! Toby is a real star now, Does he appear to be stiff and sore the next day, like us "two leggers" would be?

I gave him a baby aspirin the next morning... but he was having the zoomies and playing with Indy like nothing ever happened!!

Here is the club's results listing... except I have to contact them to get my name right...

This is astounding, but I think there is also concern for the dogs that do this. I know you wouldn't ask him to do anything he doesn't want to do, or that would harm him, but perhaps you could explain what training and protections are in place to assure weightpulling dogs do not get injured.

Most people do cardio workouts, as well as stamina work pulling things like tires around the yard.

The dogs NEED to be put together correctly - good structure, knees, healthy, etc.

You can tell at the pulls that the dogs want to do it... and the people encourage them... but there comes a point for each dog that they are done.

The brake and cart people will ALWAYS help the dog on the last pull, so they can end on a positive note. And everyone ALWAYS claps and cheers for the dog.

Far more dogs are injured doing agility than weight pull!!!
