Hi everyone I'm going to be adopting a 6 month old Crestie from a private person pretty soon and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the breed for me. He is a 6 month hairless male. He is not fixed but has had all his shots and stuff and I plan on getting him micro chipped (even though I think I'm the only person for at least 50 miles who has one lol). I'm really excited to bring him home. He is going to be an only child for a while and I think that'll be good for our bonding. He will get to go see my family and their pets but he'll be my only furbaby! Sorry I'm rambling. It's just hard because I am so excited! Anyway If anyone knows anything that will make his transition easier I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance!!

Congrats and welcome to the site. I hope you plan to neuter him, when you get the microchip. he'll be a better pet. As far as what to learn, They like to walk on their hind legs( i call it Meerkating) and they are so much fun. If you read thru this website, you'll learn a ton. can't wait for pics.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes I do plan to get him fixed. I did just find out that the lady I'm adopting him from might have found a way to keep him so I'm kinda scarred at the moment that I won't get him.

Oh no! How heartbreaking! I hope you still do. But if you are still interested in a crested, there are lots of dogs available for adoption on petfinder even younger ones too.

Keep us posted on how it goes and if fate steps in and it falls through remember there are a lot of cresties out there crying out for a home and the one to one attention you have to offer.

Thanks everyone I will keep on looking for that special furbaby (or furless-furbaby lol) for me if I am unable to get Joe Dirt. Lol that's his name by the way. Cute but I think I would probably change it. I'll keep everyone posted.

Welcome to the forum! Feel free to read through some of the threads to learn more about their quirky, engaging and loving personalities, their health care needs, and well, just about anything crestie! Wink

I hope this works out for you, but if it does not, continue your search and check into local rescues as well as any of the three forum recognized CC rescues here (you can find info about each of them in the rescue section). Soooo many needy little cresties out there!
