I've been working very hard on my garden. I am very proud of what has been accomplished so far. We bought and installed lovely black wrought iron fencing and a little gate around it so the dogs would not get in and dig everything up, but there was a small gap where the smaller dogs (Isy and Seidye) could still fit through. Seidye doesn't dig and isn't really interested in the garden, but Isy is another story. Confused That little dog keeps weeds in check in my yard. She eats anything and everything. The look on her face when she saw me in there tending to the garden was priceless. I may as well have been tending to lamb shanks.

So we went and got a 6 foot tall piece of wood trellis to make up for the small gap and also to hopefully have a lovely vine or some roses growing up someday. Well, the thing sat out there, wedged lightly (but firmly) into the little gap. I want you to know I watched Isy--every single time we went outside--run like lightning over to that trellis, pushing it and shaking it until she figured out how to knock it over. Confused Then with wild gleeful abandon give one last look back toward me as I yelled "AH! AH!" and she tore off into the garden. She did manage to dig a few things before I got to her, and I am sure she snagged a few nibbles of something, too. Confused Little turd!

So I just went out there and sank it into the ground and am getting ready to let the dogs out. I can't wait to see Isy's face when she sees that she can't knock it over! HAH!

They can certainly be cunning little things, especially when they want something in particular. Hope you took your camera to catch what is sure to be an incredulous look.

I love Isy. She sounds like a real smart girl, and thus quite a handful!

I'm with Ann on this one. I have one of those escape/nothing can keep me out/in dogs and spend loads of time on trying to figure out how to clog all the bolt holes the Terrible Twins find. Case in point, there is an area next to the house where the fence doesn't quite reach it and those two brats were going thru it, the fairy house and over the rock so I put two big chunks of concrete in front of the space. This worked for awhile and Gyp located new holes which I again fixed (and yep both her and Chyna gave me the "look"). Back to the fairy house area where now they are climbing up the chunks of concrete! So I bury a bamboo pole to make the space smaller and thread skinny bamboo sticks thru the fence and the pole. Gyp is still getting out, and how? Why squeezing her body thru some small space near the top of the fence. I put in more sticks but I think all I've accomplished is making a crestie ladder. Rolling Eyes Waiting for a report on if anyone has escaped today.

I completely feel for you on this one. I used to have a small garden in AZ that took me FOREVER to get in the ground (rock hard dirt). I was so proud of it until one day when my melons and lettuses were growing well I came out side to a massive gaping hole in the middle. Seriously, no plant was left standing...er... growing, it was just a huge hole, like i was going to bury something (or someone!). Which I almost did, when my boxer (that I no longer have Sad ) came trotting around the corner, black up to her elbows and that goofy, carefree boxer grin on her face Very Happy

I bet she thinks that you put that fence there just to give her an interesting mental challenge! Good luck finding a way to keep her out. She sounds like a smart and determined lady!
