I'm not sure where to post this, but I found this on the net the other day and it's helped me a bit. I wish I had found it when Dargo was ill, to help know some things, but I'm hoping this may help someone out there, going through a loss of a pet.

| It's been made an announcement so it can always be available in the unfortunate event it is needed! |

| Thanks Shell. I'm sorry that any of us have occasion to use this, but it's great to know it is here. |

Thanks for posting this. No one wants to need this number, but its great to know its there in case we do. There must be some really special people at the other end of that phone number. |

I think it's a wonderful resource! I'm sure they're angels on the other end, LD. Must be.
I, too, wish to not ever have to use this, but we need to be realistic.
Thanks, Shell, for posting it. It's sure to help others. |

Your welcome. It has really helped me in the past few days. I actually received a very long email from a wonderful person (within 24 hours) who offered wonderful support and links to questions I needed answered. I'm so impressed with them. There's also a number that anyone can call when they are very upset and are having a hard time dealing with a terminally ill pet, or the loss of a pet.
I hope it brings some comfort to others who need this kind of support.
Shell. |

| I was just wondering if this should be a sticky in the Rainbow bridge section as well? Someone having the sad reason for posting there may find it helpful. |

| It's been 5 months since Dargo passed, and though I'm much better now, I still go back and read the emails that were sent to me from the pet loss hotline to reassure myself that my feelings are normal. The people there are amazing and very patient in corresponding. I hope it can help someone else too. Shell. |

5 months ... For a heart dog, that would still feel like yesterday
I really wish I had had this sort of support when I lost my heart girl many years ago. I ended up ringing a crisis line and telling them my best friend had died just so I could get some grief counselling! I had no idea how to cope with the heartbreak, my doctor put me on antidepressants and I couldn't face having another dog for 3 years. It was the absolute worst time in my life and nobody understood what I was going through.
I'm so glad things have changed and there is now support for people who have lost their best friend.
My heart aches for you, the only thing that can reduce the pain is time. Support and understanding is a big help in the healing process too. I'm so glad you found someone to help you through this terribly hard time.
Jo

| I think it perfectly appropriate to make a sticky in the Bridge section for this hotline as well. I'll take care of it. |
