ErinArebalo, That would be awesome! LOL And yeah, that's where he came from... You can see what I thought in general under the rescue forum
But I LOVE him! I haven't had a single regret! I'd been craving a crested since I lost Turbo in '06 Now I have a new shadow LOL! He's coming along great, but his potty habits have got me feeling lost...I'll probably ask about that on another thread but I'll throw it here too: For two days, he WILL NOT potty when anyone is around. He went last night sometime and then again today around 3;30ish when we left to go to town. He hasn't gone at any other time. hmmm. Oh, and outside of that, he's not messed on the carpet at all (he's not on the carpet at night or when he's alone).
He's a super cuddle bug and was bouncing beside me on his hind legs for attention earlier! |

| it might take time especially if your new cuddle bug came from less then stellar conditions for the whoel potty thing to click. the best thing you can do is have a set schedule so the little one knows when it is potty time. Not sure if you have a yard with a secure fence but if you do you might put in a bush or two in the potty area so the little one thinks no one is watching. |

Potty Breakthrough!! He slept in the bed last night, I'm super sensitive so everytime he shifted I was awake, yeah, rough night LOL! This morning I took him out as soon as we got up. It took 45 minutes but lo and behold he did it all! I praised him, brought him in and gave him breakfast. He'd taken a few bites then suddenly was running to me and back down the hall, being frantic. I took him outside and YAY! He pooped again! I think we're on the right track!
Oh and here's a new pic, you can see he isn't nearly as scared as in the first pics

| Oh that 2nd pic is REALLY beautiful!!! the first ones when he was nervous just didn't do him justice!!!! I'm working on potty training too... I use the belly band inside and take him out frequently, but he really doesn't have that many b.m.s through-out the day.... 1 maybe. I'm not complaining... just expected at least 2 lol |

His fear of going to the washroom in front of you could be because he had been improperly scolded for going to the washroom, and he was completely confused as to what he was doing wrong, so now he may think that all pottying is bad.
I would suggest just taking him out a lot and making sure you give him lots of praise and treats when he does go outside, so that he begins to associate pottying out side with positivity, and will also realize in time that if he goes potty outside and you don't see it, then the praise and treats aren't there either. Before you know it he'll be putting on a show!
If this is the case (that he's been punished for pottying), you will also have to be really careful how you handle it if he has an accident in the house. My suggestion woud be to just silently pick him up and put him outside, then praise him if he goes out there. Depending on how fearful he is, I might even just ignore if he goes in the house if it's done and over with, because if simply picking him up while pottying and putting him outside really freaks him out, he may miss the message, and start finding secret places in the house to go while you aren't looking.
Dogs are fun! Good Luck. |

It is striking how improved he already looks, lively, alert, interested and less afraid. Ponder looks like he knows he is at home. |
