| Ok, the eye rims are to match the color of the dog. This is what the AKC standard calls for, right? So does that mean a light-colored dog with dark eye rims is considered undesirable? |

No a lighter colored dog may still have black or dark eye rims. What it means is if the dog has "broken" pigment on their skin ( IE SPOTS) then they can have broken pigment around their eye rims or even no pigment (white)
