|
My camera is gone! I hate to suggest that it was stolen, but that's looking more and more like a possibility I last had my camera with me on Wednesday of last week. I had it at Occoquan when I went with my mom and memaw, I didn't take any pics so it stayed in my purse the whole time. Here's the sucky part I don't remeber what I did with it after that. I always keep my camera on the coffe table, end table or on the counter by my spice rack so I don't see myself putting it elsewhere. It's in a bright pink case so it's easy to see. We had a house guest that stayed with us from Fri-Sun, my boyfriends younger brother. I feel horrible thinking he might have taken it, but on the other hand he is not the most honnest kid and it wouldn't surprise me much if he did take it (he has been known to steal things before, but not from us!). I'm going to continue looking for it and hopefully I find it in an oddball place. If I don't find it I doubt I'll ever see it again I just don't get why you would take something from family, even if I'm not his real sister I've been dating Stephen for 3yrs so it is like he is stealing form Stephen too. What an awful feeling, thinking something has been stolen from you by a houseguest that you trusted. I feel all at once and it sucks majorly.

That's a horrible feeling! I hope it is misplaced. But I agree, a bright pink case should be easy to see. Hope you find it! |

| You could always ask the brother if he remembers seeing it while he was there, that you can't find it....maybe he moved it (hoping this is it, terrible to think of family stealing from family). Hope it's just misplaced. |

Asking if he's seen it, in a way that isn't accusatory, might give him an opening to "find" and return it.

| That's an awful feeling I have experienced many times. How old is te younger brother? Would he take it to a pawn shop? I'd call around if it didn't turn up very soon. |

| that really sucks! I would agree to call him and ask him if he had seen it while he visitd. I doubt he'ld admit to it if he really did take it though. like my father always said,"to be a thief you also have to be a liar". |

| That is horrid, I would def ask him if hes seen it/moved it, you will probably be able to tell if hes telling the truth by his voice, having to suspect family is the worst part of it <<<<<hugs>>>>> |

I asked him about it non confrontationaly like suggested and after he left our house yesterday (we had to watch him while his dad was at work late) it showed up on my coffee table in plain sight. Good news I got my camera back, bad news he probally did have it and intended on selling it I'm just glad to have it back and know that he made the right choice in the end. Thanks for all your suggestions and support! |

whew...glad you got it back!
I would from now on lock up valuable stuff whenever he comes around just in case, maybe get a little safty box that you can just quickly toss important stuff into.
I would also discuss this problem with his parents maybe it's an external manisfestation of something going on with him or maybe not but it really should be addressed because one day he is going to get caught stealing something from the wrong person and well who knows what could happen!
Or even at the very least it could be a matter of time before being caught at a store and end up with a record which could affect the rest of his life.
He needs some kind of help and maybe stealing your camera was a way of asking for it since it seemed it was obvious it was him! |

Good that you have your camera back, sad that this young man would stoop to stealing from a friends home. I agree that a quiet word in his parents ear is a good idea. It could save him from repeating his actions, and starting off on a life of crime. No matter how small this crime was, every road starts with one step. |

I don't mean to add another worry, but people that steal usually do so for a reason. I'd ask around at some of the pawn shops withing a 15 mile radius to see if he has a "relationship" with them. I'd definitely want to know the reason he needed the money.
Also, like the others said, I'd get a box to put your valuables in.
I'm glad you got the camera back! |
