| I think that it would be nice to have a sticky or something in the intro section that describes how Crush was started, and who was involved in it's beginnings etc. I've heard little bits and pieces here and there, but it woud be neat to hear the whole story. |

Well, it seems like a long time ago...........I think it may be on here somewhere. I'll have to poke around and see!
You can see back in the very beginning of the intro pages who was on here from the start but many of us had been together even before this. |

Well, way, way back with J & J which was C C Lovers - we were all on there and then from that to Crush.
Be patient everyone and I'll see if I can find the story. |

The long and the short of it is that many of the Mods/Admins here have been on a few boards before Crush was born. Each forum was filled with more drama than talk about Cresteds. While on the last forum Chelsey, Myself and Julie (Mr. Crowley) tried our hardest to turn things around and expand on the sections like rescue, but the 4th Admin was very resistant. We started butting heads with her and her refusal to make that fourm a drama free and more dog oriented place to be. While this was taking place, Pr0s (my bf and the brains beind Crush) started playing around with a forum template and creating what we now know as Crush. He was tinkering around with Crush and I had no clue until he suggested that the 3 Admins who were in the same mindframe break of and create our own forum. Thats when he showed me his forum that he created. So the 3 of us decided to break free and start Crush. Our focus was to be as drama free as possible, and keep the focus on the dogs, where it belongs.
Thats the short version, haha! Things were never as simple as that, but its all water under the bridge now. |

Some of us have literally known eachother for almost 5 years and I think we have had about 4 different forums?? Maybe more?
When Ups, Julie and i started with the idea for this forum we wanted to make sure it had standards and was really different than other dog sites in general. We tried to make it a resource too with all the stickies and announcements jam packed of info for ppl to use as they need them. We also tried to make sure that we were not going to allow bad breeders to come on here and try to pawn pups or use us as a way to sell pups so we set up a lot of guidelines for breeders who are apart of this forum. Rescue was something else we thought was extrememly important and wanted to focus on.
We also wanted to have a place where we could honestly help ppl about finding a dog from a good breeder as well. Unfortunately we have had to let go of that dream a little due to some less than reputable breeders coming on here and yelling lawsuit. That is the one thing that breaks my heart because I do know how hard it is for people looking for a new puppy to tell the good from the bad.
So anyways, we all met on a very old forum ran by someone who do not have the best ideas or actions. We left that forum and started another which is the one that Ups is talking anout with the 4th admin we did not get along with. We left there and tried to make our "dream" forum and I think we did a pretty good job.
I think we are all suprised at how big this forum has gotten. And I want to say that never would have been possible if it weren't for our Mods and our other Admin DE. I am so glad we have such a wonderful family here! Andwe do our best to keep the riff raff away |

| Wow, has it been almost 2 years? I guess it has. We all stuck together through a lot of problems and issues, and it hasn't always been smooth sailing, but we are like family. We will stick by each other through thick and thin and we work to constantly make Crush a better place. |

Its the members who make a forum what it is. This is something that we have always felt strongly about. The Mods and Admins work endlessly to keep the peace on the forum, but in the end its the members who make a forum what it is, be it good or bad. Its our jobs as Mods/Admins to see that Crush is always the former. |

May I chime in a minute to say that I've been on here almost two years. It seems like forever.
I don't have a ton of forum experience, but I am a member of a couple of others. One of them Crested oriented. I have no issues with the other forums, I visit them occassionally. They just don't mean as much to me as this one does. Maybe because I started here, maybe 'cause the topics are more interesting, maybe 'cause the folks are friendlier and more of a family unit - I don't know. I know I'm not the most verbal of members and while you might not know me very well, I do feel as though I know all of you well. I read as much as I possibly can (taking time out to eat and drink and work occassionally ) and I think of everyone here as friends.
But although I agree that the members are an integral part of what makes the forum work, it's the administrators and mods that set the tone and lay the foundation. It's your work that draws the right kind of people and keeps those people involved. You make the topics fun and informative and interesting. You keep the peace and mediate potentially volatile situations. No negative drama, but human interest and support galore! As you pointed out, the drama of your previous forums turned you off - that was the fault of the people running the forum, not the members.
We hear so much about the evils of internet chatting, yet this is an example of the best that a cyber world can be. Friends over several continents coming together daily! Think of all the problems that have been solved, the health issues that were averted, the dogs that found forever homes, the friendships that have taken hold, the business ventures that have gotten underway, the volunteers that have gotten involved in rescue, the charitable efforts that have undertaken, the tears, grief and frustrations that have been vented and consoled, the joys that have been shared - new houses, new pups, new babies, weddings, promotions.
This is all the stuff of friendship. And this has all been made possible by the dreams, vision, and hard work of our founding members, computer wizards, admins and mods. I think we can all say that we would be devastated if this forum disappeared tomorrow I know I would!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of this.
Excellent work, ladies and gents
(So we ask, as my children used to ask, "Tell us the story about when we were born!") |

Thank you dbev. That means a lot to me, personally. Keeping Crush drama free is hard work sometimes, but it is very necessary to keep the tone of the forum the way we have worked hard to keep it; friendly, supportive and informative.
Some people arn't a good fit for Crush and they move along, but those who stay do become wonderful friends. |

Time flies so fast. I did'nt realise i have been with Crush 2 years and 5 months. I have'nt found another forum that can touch it for friendship, support, love and care for our breed, and the dedication of everyone concerned with its running. Now if i could only find one so dedicated to the Italian Greyhounds, i would never get any work done at all. |

Thank you all for all the work you have put into this forum. I've been here for two years and have found answers too numerous to mention for my Crested questions. But the friendships that have developed are definitely the best side benefit. Of course my house hasn't been clean and my work sometimes takes a backseat but hey, you can't have everything. Besides work and clean houses are highly overrated! |

i have to honestly say that i have (temporarily) 'tried' only three or four other forums ranging from vw's to yorkies and have never stuck like i have with this one. (not even close) it will be two years for me this october.
not only is there a wealth of information about cresties found on ccc but there is also a true group of friends. may sound corny but there is a heartbeat here.
the chinese crested breed is known for being a velcro dog...for being loving, unique, humorous, dedicated, soulful ... so it seems to make sense that the people who choose to own (or want to own) this breed (and 'stick like velcro' to this forum) are the same way.
abundance of thanks to the admins and mods!!! |

I have always felt that the best internet forums become more like communities, where people bond over some common interest or theme. Few that I have visited achieve this, but Crush is one. I too would like to thank the admins and mods-- even though I recently joined their ranks, it was those who came before who set the tone here and made it what it is. |
