|
The group of forum Admins and Mods have been re-examining some of the policies about how certain questions have been asked and answered on the public parts of the forum. Questions on specific breeders, kennels and lines have evoked the most reaction from many different sources and are constantly occurring. In light of this, we have decided to change the forum policy in this regard.
We will allow no answer to questions that ask about specific names on the public part of the forum. If someone wishes to answer such a question privately, that is up to the individual. Such posts will be locked and left up for a certain number of days and then removed.
There are stickies in different sections on the forum on what constitutes a reputable breeder, what to look for when buying a pup or adult dog from a breeder, what questions to ask, what paperwork to have in your hands in regard to health testing before making a decision and what the definition of a backyard breeder and puppy mill is.
Each person should do their homework and get references, learn the breed standard, go to dog shows and meet breeders and ask for health testing. Know where the dog you are getting comes from, the lines behind it, the health of those lines and the reputation of the person you are getting it from. Ask why this breeding was done and what were the characteristics of the parents that were so outstanding that the dogs were bred. Are they AKC champions? Or Champions of FCI recognized foreign registries? Are the rest of the dogs in the lines Champions? Learn about registries like AKC or some of the others that have cropped up and what their actual value is to have those papers. Learn the standard and apply this to the dogs you look at such as any adults you can see or the parents of pups.
Do these dogs look like the standard? What is their temperament and that of the parents?
Be an informed, educated and responsible buyer.
While people give their opinions on things all over the internet, the laws and exposure to libel and/or slander issues and accusations are changing as to what can be said on blogs and in forums and this is being recognized in the courts.
We too recognize this and will strictly moderate this particular policy. Anything that does not comply will be removed.
The section currently called Acquiring a Chinese Crested will be renamed Bringing Home Baby and will no longer be used for asking about specific breeders or kennels.
We ask the same policy be followed in the section for backyard breeders or puppy mills. The definitions speak for themselves and are very clear to discern when looking to purchase a dog especially over the internet.
This section will be open for postings as long as the guidelines are followed. Any post which does not conform will be removed.
Again the same policy is in place for the two sections Pedigree Corner and Chinese Crested Breeders.
Please also note that all breeders of any breed of dog, not just the Chinese Crested wishing to join this forum, must fill out a breeder’s survey, provide a copy of their contract, proof of up-to-date Cerfs or Optigen testing either available in a public database or directly to the Admins. as well as any other health test results that are mentioned and the AKC Champions (only AKC registration recognized) used in the breeding program with their registrations numbers. This information will be reviewed and the breeder contacted.
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: Meeting these requirements does not guarantee membership to Chinese Crested Crush. Any person may be refused membership to the forum at the discretion of the Admins. |
