Just wondering how this section works. I have a few things that I would like to donate, but I'm not sure how to go about it. In the past, I have donated my stuff to the humane society here, but in terms of clothing, really it's kinda useless since they never have hairless dogs, so I would like to donate it to a hairless/crestie organization instead.

I also made my first bellybands, and jammies this weekend, and they turned out pretty good, considering I don't know what I'm doing! Laughing (pictures to come!) so I would like to make some to donate as well. I am just not sure exactly what is needed.

Should I just make a bunch of jammies in different sizes, and materials? Is there more of a need for lighter jammies rather than the fleece kind? Would jammies be preferable to t-shirts? Are bellybands needed also? What about toys? I was thinking of making some stuffy-type toys too. Mine would destroy them in record time, but maybe other "normal" dogs wouldn't. Are toys needed? And if so, would a stuffy last more than a few minutes with a normal crestie?

Also, which organization should I send it to, and who should I contact? Should I send a little to each of the 3 rescues that are known to the forum, or is this all being distributed by the person receiving the donations? Sorry for all the questions! Embarassed Laughing

Hi there!

Thank you so much for your generosity in general! Any of the three crested rescues would be happy to have any donated items that you shall wish to create/give, as there is always a need for the little babies that come in, no matter what. Flower

You can indeed donate to all three or you can read up on each rescue site and see which resonates within your heart and go with that. Here are links to the three main ones mentioned on this forum, so you have them.

www.hopeshaven.org
www.crest-care.net
www.crestedguardians.org

I can speak only for Crested Guardians.....anything you decide to give would be most welcome! And, of course, deeply appreciated!

Peace and light, Patti

Anything you would like to donate to HH you can send to me. I have been taking new donated items to the fund raising events to sell, or sometimes putting them on Ebay. If I get a lot of items, either new or gently used, along with items like toys/collars/food dishes- I make up little "care packages" that I send out to our active foster homes for their foster dogs. I always ask the foster homes if they need anything and they are always the last to ask for help- they always say to give it to someone more in need Smile I like to surprise them with the care packages and I know they do appreciate everything that is donated Smile And I can tell you that the belly bands would be the first things to go! Usually the first few days or weeks the foster enters a new home, they need a little housebreaking training 101 Smile

You can PM me if you would like to donate anything and thanks so much!

Great. I'll be in touch as soon as I have a bunch of stuff ready to go! I am still looking for a better jammie pattern, since the one I have was much too small in the chest and thigh, and had to be modified to fit properly, but I'm ready to go with the toys and bellybands!

If there is anyone else who fosters or rescues and is in need of jammies, bellybands, or stuffies, feel free to post here.

My only little bit to add is on the stuffies. Socrates has some stuffies, with and without squeekies, that have been with us since he was a baby. Hes 4 1/2 now. Im sure there are others out the who would treasure your stuffies like he does his squirrel. Thats so sweet of you. Theia is a rescue and when I pulled out her first dress from an envelope we got in the mail her whole body lit up. She knew it was just for her and that made her entire day. She was so pround walking around the house in her new dress.

I finally got a couple shipments out today of bellybands etc. Very Happy It's amazing how long it takes to do seemingly simple things when you have no free time! Rolling Eyes I even stayed in quite a few weekend evenings sewing like a little old lady instead of going out! Laughing And still it's taken forever! It could also be due to my poor sewing skills though. Laughing

I'll have to remember to post some pictures this weekend of my bellybands. I'm the worst for posting pictures, but they are really the first things I've made since I was a kid, so I'm pretty proud, and they're for a good cause.

I have one more batch to make for the rescue that I left out so far, after that, I am going to try to figure out the best way to distribute the bellybands so they go where they are most needed. I've got a few tentative ideas, but I'll post about those later, and I'll be needing some suggestions!
