im not totally sure how rescues work, I found an adorable little girl on pet finder. Ive totally fallen in love with her, but on her info page it clearly states that they only adopt in a 2 hour radius of her location. Im clearly not in that radius, but Im just wondering if that is that normal?
Do you think it is still worth submitting an application or would that just be wasting peoples time?
If this rescue is known to some of the rescue members on here, could something be discussed on my behalf?
Thank you for your answers in advance! |

Some rescues want the dog close to them so they can keep tabs on it, ya know? Its not unheard of. I would contact the rescue and see if they may be able to work something out with you. I sure hope so!!
Niles came to me in PA from Florida, which is quite a hike. Good luck!!! |

I would let them know that you're not in the radius, but still would like to submit an application.
Maybe when they see how much the little one will be loved, they can work with you. |

| I have heard of shelters doing that. One in Atlanta in particular. They are very strict about it too. Couldn't hurt to ask why they have this policy. |

Thank you everyone for your encouragement but I heard back today and they do not accept applications from outside their area.
I asked if it would make a difference if I supplied them with good references, if they could make an exception, but they still said that they only adopt in their area.
I didn't feel I needed a reason why they have that rule, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
It is nice to know that she is in what appears to be a very loving foster home in the mean time.
I hope she finds a forever home soon! |

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. I'd keep looking though-you never know who's going to catch your eye. |

Ah Sarah - that really sucks!!! I'm sorry to hear about this!! Have you tried other rescues?? They have some really adorable dogs!!!!
As you know I'm in the process of going thru this myself with a cutie pie from Texas and I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out and we are approved!!!! So far it's looking good!! I'm really hoping to be holding my little girl very soon!!
I wish you lots of luck!! Please keep looking and keep us posted!! Some pup somewhere would be really lucky to have you as a mom! |

Im so excited for you Chantale!!!
Any idea when you will find out if you get her?
I would be a nervous wreck
I have looked around at a few other sites/rescues, but the little girl that I had found... well she was super special, so I dunno.
I have noticed that Ive been looking at more and more Xolos latley, so maybe there is a special one out there for me and I just havent found him or her yet!
*fingers crossed* for you Chantale! |
