Here are some pics of the puppies at day 8. Its so VERY hard to get them all in frame facing one direction. Eyes and ears will begin to open later this week. This is one of the most active(physically and vocally) litters i've had. Even thru their daily little exercises they are full of it.
Here's one where you can see the black hl male's face-he must be camera shy
Group picture
For those of you keeping count the spotted boy has 15 spots now. Those on his neck and sides didn't come out this pic

love the new pics! if I missed it in an earlier post, I apoligize... but what do you do for daily little exercizes? is it just holdiing them for a bit of socialization or did you mean their activities with mom and each other? hmmm, looks a like a silly question as I read it over! |

| Its a series of neurological stimulation exercises done days 3-16 with puppies(breedingbetterdogs.com). I've found it to be wonderful for all of my pups. |

It sounds like your litters get quite a bit of individual attention with the exercises - what a great thing to do with them.
I loved them all, they are priceless little babies I love watching them grow. And just look at their little ears |

My Pap breeders do the same 'exercises' which they explained in their 'packet' I got with each pup. I loved that information.
NOW, are their personalities emerging? Are there any differences in behavior at this point? Who is the little pig and who the shrinking violet? Who is the most vocal and does the Mother favor one? I am trying to see if that pup may be an alpha someday or perhaps she favors the omega to encourage it.
They are beautiful and I would be hard pressed to pick one BUT I am very fond of the spotted brown one for some reason.
Have the others seen the litter from the gate yet? Who is interested and what is their pack status.
You needn't answer all of these questions just those you think will benefit the group and thank you.

9 puppies -that's a big crestie litter !!! Once there more than four-althought the largest litter my girls have had is 5- I do, and so do most breeders, supplemental feedings of puppies with STATor NutroDrops and monitor weight gain/hydration very closely.
Feeding habits wise -this is a major piggy litter and all have been from the get go. Often newborns have to be put on the nipple to nurse and repositioned regulary to find and get on the nipple. This bunch has been self-serving vigorously from hour one- one even nursing while she was still attached to the placenta still inside mom.
Personality wise-I see the biggest gain when eyes open. Right now the entire litter relative to prior litters-except for hairy hairy hairless- are all acting as former alphas have for me in the past. Relative to one another, the pink/spotted male and the hairy hairless female seem to be the more physically/vocally dominant 2 in the litter. This line and another of mine seem to produce dominant/alpha bitches without exception.
The other adults are free to peek in on mom and litter thru the gate which is about 5 feet from the whelping box. The other bitches run over to the gate when the puppies vocalize or mom steps on someone. The boys seem disinterested in general. Although Classic was very curious the first time he heard them downstairs. My one little bitch,Latte, is very intested in getting in to inspect puppies close up .
For now, mom leaves the box to eat/drink/go to the bathroom and stays out for 15 -20 min breaks every couple hours each day. Always keeping any eye on the puppy room.
