I was told by my agility instructor that if I dog pees or poos on an agility course they're instantly disqualified and must leave the course.
When I was showing my poodles in the confirmation ring this never happened, but I'd like to know if the same thing applies in the confirmation ring. |

I don't know for certain, but I guess a lot of people remember from a few years back the GSH who poo-ed in the ring during Westiminster. Didn't place but wasn't DQ'd or anything. Jeez, talk about adding insult to injury....
whoa, stopping to pee or poo on a agility course surely would cut into their time.... I daresay it wouldn't make much difference in their results that way so no big deal to DQ?

I think this happened to Chelsey once. Maybe she can give more details.
It is bad with agility tho.. as it can totally distract a dog from what you're telling it to do. I will never forget one of Sammi's first trial runs, a sheltie had run before her and had gone into the tunnel and was taking a bit longer than he should. The poor judge on the floor had to crawl in there to 'check it out' and, sure enough, he'd marked the inside of the tunnel. They had to disinfect and wait about 5 mins. before Sammi could run. |

hlboyz your too funny! Although yes I'm sure that it would slow the dog's time down, the reason for this is because it distracts all the other dogs competing after as they slow down to sniff the smell left by the other dog. Also, it slows down the whole trial as stewards have to clean up and completely disinfect the area that the dog did his business. |

No, it isn't a DQ. The reason I say that is that I've seen it happen. They just clean it up and continue. At Glen Rose... a CC 'relieved' himself on the table!! Not really a whole lot you can do for pee on a dirt floor though, but I've seen them have to clean up pooh too.
Plus, this last wesminister show, the Scottie (I believe) peed in the group ring as they were going around. I don't believe anything happened there either. |

In the dog sports rings like Agility or Obedience or Rally it is instant DQ for pottying in the ring. For conformation everyone just goes about their business.
At her first real show Indiana squated in the middle of the down and back. It was an outdoor show and the ring was entirely grass so no one even needed to clean up. I have seen dog who were passed over because they pottied in the ring but never kicked out. |

In conformation you are judging the structure of the dog, not its ability to complete objects and tasks in obedience or agility. ergo there is no DQ or EX for dogs peeing or pooing in the conformation ring.
Just like agility folks do, we try to make sure our dogs have done their business before going into show. Dogs sometimes have different ideas.
One of my first show dogs, refused to poo if it was not her grass. After 2 days at a show, we knew she was about to explode. She pooed in the ring, and when all was said and done she was BOB. We decided to get a photo, and while we waited on the photographer...she pooed again. The photographer arrived, and the breed ahead of us went first on the table for the photo and while we waited on that..she Pooed again. The judge was just about peeing himself laughing, with the comment of "that is an awful lot of poop for one little dog!!!".
He fully understood that some dogs will not go, if it is not their grass, and..she had reached the point of explosion or implosion! |

LOL yeah, Little Miss Proper Olivia who would rather explode then potty where she is not supposed to pooed in the ring on the blue carpet at the big Louisville shows 3 years ago. I had to laugh because Livi would not potty at this show because of all the big dogs around so I knew she had to go to. I just decided to see if she would make it out of the ring before she exploded. She didnt! She still won though |
