As many of you know, I have been mourning the loss of my dogs for a couple weeks and have had a lonely sad house and a very lonely sad Princess Kailan Spiderman Superman.
So, we've decided that Dutchess Marley Ironman Batman would be a great addition to our house, and if our dogs do come home, which we hope with all we are that they will, then we will be one family member richer!
Marley came to us last night, she is a 9wk old HHL (We had a tough time with rescues due to the daycare, the small kids, and Kailan not being spayed yet). Please be kind, we are excited about her!
She had a great first night, btw, slept in our bed and loves the kids, her new sister, and the cat! |

She is very cute. I'm surprised that you got another dog so quickly, but we all "mourn" differently. I do hope you fixed the fence and will not leave them out unattended in the yard. Even a hawk, eagle or small weasel could kill a CC pup and coyotes will jump a fence to get a dog. I think others would agree that small dogs should not be left in the yard unattended - even with the best fencing.
Please take to heart that the concerns the rescue would have with you are legitimate concerns that need to be considered when adding dogs to your family.
I sure hope the worst has not happened to your missing dogs. |

aww.... she's very cute! Are you going to give her a haircut on her body?
We wouldn't be considered by a rescue either ... small children, unspayed dogs.
Is she home now does Kailan spiderman like her?

As much as I would love to say that I am hoping they come home safe and sound
my gut tells me otherwise. I hate to say that, I really really want to be wrong.
I personally have had a dog lost, and back a week later. But in totally different circumstances.
But I also know someone who lost a dog in a more similar location... and she never returned.
It is heartbreaking.
I can understand where Mari and Puff are coming from. But I also can see how you have
an empty spot in your world and it aches to not have something there.
Unless we walk in your shoes, and live in your home, and go through your routines,
we have no idea.
She is cute, but my concerns come mostly from finding one so quickly, unless you have been
searching for a while, and already had a breeder in mind. It doesn't bother me that a
rescue wouldn't work with you... that means nothing about you to me, since I myself wouldn't
even bother contacting a rescue, since I would never be considered, since I have unaltered dogs.
My biggest concern is that you found one so quickly, that she came from a responsible breeder
and she will be healthy, etc for you.
Enjoy her!! |

She is very cute. I have to say my thoughts echo Mari Becker and Rocket Signtist. Given the area you live in, with so much wildlife that is a danger to domestic animals, I would never leave any dog/cat unattended outside, especially for the length of time it must have taken to dig a hole big enough for a lab sized dog to get under. I still hope your lost ones will return but i fear the worst for the cc puppy. |

LOL, Thanks for the well wishes! I would almost never post about my search for a puppy, that is really personal for myself and my husband. Just as I wouldn't post about trying for a baby or anything where things might not happen the way I want them to.
Anyhow, the fence has been fixed, and Kailan has been out there and can not get out, neither can Marley. It was fixed the day they took off and we realized there was a problem.
Thanks for the concern about the fence, I am completely ignoring any and all comments about "how fast" I found her. Sometimes good things come to you and you have to just smile and take it as it comes.
I asked all of you to be kind under the circumstances and appreciate all of you that were! THANK YOU |

You can ignore the comments, or you can at least acknowledge the concern for YOU
that were behind them.
Yes, sometimes things happen quickly and turn out well. But, for example only!!,
lets say walking into a pet store and spotting a dog, and getting it, may be quick and such,
but in the long run, a horrible decision.
It sounds like you have been searching already, so the concern of quickly getting something
without doing the research is probably not needed.
I just was thinking, with the heartbreak of losing the others, I was really hoping that there
wouldn't be heartbreak of health issues in the future for you. It was meant with the best
intentions. |

Champion pedigree, great breeder, good references on both sides, papered, no pet stores (don't even enter them), no wantads, nothing that isn't responsible. I don't support BYB or mills and I am blessed to know the warning signs of that!
Thanks for the well wishes and concerns, but please keep the positive energy, it's hard enough to not feel guilty with the others gone. |

I totally understand why you'd want a new playmate for Kailan. He's suddenly left all alone. I never planned to get a third dog again, but Theo was so obviously in need of someone with his energy and play level, that I found him a little brother.
No one is being mean-spirited, just giving opinions and advice - that's what we do here. You yourself said the dogs were outside while you ate dinner. You have small kids and sounds like you care for small kids as a profession. You live in an area where there is tons of wildlife. I'm simply pointing out that you can't leave tiny dogs outside unattended under all those circumstances. I also live in a wooded area, so I'm speaking from experience.
I know your emotions are raw, but if nothing else, make this terrible loss a learning experience so you never go thru this again. |
