thanks so much. I'm so glad you are better than me. I'm also sure you know how blessed you are to not be affected by the hurricanes.

I am sorry you feel that you are being attacked.....you are not. I am sure we are all sorry you were affected by the recent hurricanes, however you will find this group of people very passionate about this breed of dog we all love so much. It really is not an issue of how much money you do or do not have. If you make the decision to purchase a new puppy part of that thought out decision is the necessary and immediate cost of vetting including puppy shots, heartworm, speuter etc. At least in my city, all local vets offer some sort of reduced cost clinic for ALL people regardless of income as well as my vet designates one day per week for specifically low cost spay and neuters for any and all....they do this to try and help with the horrendous over population of unwanted pets. Even if all your dogs are fixed, it takes one single quick second for a neighbor dog who gets in your yard, a friend's dog, etc to get at your girl...this is why a speuter should be first and foremost unless there is a medical reason as to why not. A large majority of us rescue and FULLY understand the amount of time, cost and sacrifice it involves and our job here is to try and educate people who find us. It would be an absolute tragedy if your girl is pregnant as she is obviously not from a health tested approved breeder and the unimaginable consequences of a Crestie trying to birth pups that are mixed with mastiff are terrifying.....please get your baby to a vet right away. Yes it could be a false pregnancy but it could also be the real thing and end up costing your little girl her life Sad This is an amazing forum full of caring people who you can learn alot of from so hopefully you will take this advice and knowledge and learn from it and continue to visit with us. Good luck with your girl.

Okay, not too happy!!!

I've had my girl for about 3 weeks, she was coming out of heat when I got her and I know there is NO POSSIBILITY of her gretting pregnant at my house. Well her nipples are not only swollen, but starting to puff out. Can anyone tell me what signs to look for in the cresties? I have whelped several foster litters in the past, large and small breed. But no crested littes before. I'm so upset. I specifically asked if she had been around any males and the answer was no. I would not have breed this dog purposely, although she is a good quality hairless. Any advice, what to look for etc.. thanks... Twisted Evil

PLEASE read your post again, before you get so defensive. You post that you have had your girl for three weeks, you dont mention where you got her (breeder/rescue), but later mention whelping Fosters, which would imply rescue. Then you say "I would not have breed this dog purposely, although she is a good quality hairless" Which *sounds like* YOU bred her, you did not clarify that you thought she may of come to you pregnant.

Also a "good quality hairless" is NOT good enough, and certainly not validation for allowing this dog to produce *god knows what kind of mixes!*

I would hope by me pointing this out, and while I am sure it wasn't intentional, your original post sparked a need for concern, For you to come to a conclusion on what "kind" of person Hlboyz is, based on her advice to seek a low income spay, (since you previously mentioned financial troubles and the dogs health is at risk!) is just not right nor welcome (IMO)

That being said, There is a very good chance that your crested is going through a false pregnancy, mine did right after her first heat. Her nipples looked like they had little plates under neath them, I posted pictures once, If you do a search for 'nipples" you should be able to find it Embarassed It is very common in the breed, BUT the only way to know for sure, is to talk to you vet. I am sorry that you have been affected by the hurricane, but even if you can just get her in for an office visit, it will be very helpful in knowing what your next step will be and if your able to provide all that is necessary for her overall well being.

Again, I hope you understand that your original post was questionable to say the least, and snide remarks will get you nowhere. The members of this forum are generous, kind and passionate people, with a wealth of knowledge, advice and support, I hope you will take a step back to realize how the confusion came about, and get past it, start over, and hopefully get everything and more I personally have gotten out of this forum.

At this point the needed advice has been given by many concerned members in regard to this dog's situation which first and foremost is to take the dog to the vet for evaluation as is appropriate in any situation regarding a concern with health.

The rules of the forum have also been stated in regard to breeding and posting about it and under what circumstances this is allowed.
