Say Hi to Fred! Only kidding, the shelter decided to put that on his app since he is a "dancer" and no way can I call him that with a neighbor also named Fred!
My first official foster for the county, will be short lived - his neuter is scheduled for Thursday at which time he will become mine and I will find him a good home here.
some quick pics, I just got home! Pleeeeze crushers come up with some good names to put on his vet chart before Wednesday's wellness visit!

| Well I am coming up dry, but he looks like he has a lot of character, so I was thinking something dashing/romantic. |

Thank you Hlboyz and he who is yet to be named has fallen into the best of hands!
Isn't he cute!!!
OK - I can't wait till you know more about him and can share with us.
Names, names, names - Fred doesn't do it even without the neighbor of same name. He is just more than a Fred. But we need to know something about his personality that may suggest the right name. |

How precious!! What a lucky boy to have you for his foster Mom! I'm no good at names. I have a dog named Scooter for gosh sakes! That little top knot is so funny. Is he a CC or a mix? I think he looks like a Calvin. Can't wait to hear more about him! |

Well with that haircut the first thing I thought was 80's punk! lol so my name suggestion is Kennedy! LOL Dead Kennedys was the first band I could think of that had any potential at being a normal name lol |

He's a little doll. I like the Hollywood names too, Chaplin (Ole Chap), Gable (Gabe is cute), Stewart (sort of proper), quite like Bogey for Bogart.
I am probably no good with names, wanted to name Zebo Carmella for heaven's sakes. ( I was going to call him Car'Mel)
I had my son name him instead. |

I have to say the first name posted I just fell for - Calvin! As in Klein (CK), Ha, maybe he will turn out to be more like the comic strip Calvin? He does look like a fraggle - I was trying to think of what he reminded me of.... I don't know what they were thinking with that "do"! (and ha - I named Elmo on the way to the vet...)
He was turned in as a stray to the Humane Society, who doesn't do strays and he wasn't doing well there, so was sent to impound where no one claimed him. He wasn't going into their adoption program (temperment) and they didn't want him more stressed at the shelter. They would have contacted rescue instead - they work with quite a few being very rescue friendly. Since rescue has their hands full, I asked about fostering him myself. I was hoping that someone would have come by this morning to maybe adopt him, but no.
He isn't real good around strangers and all that. heck, not surprising. but I left with him in my arms and by the time I got home he was in my lap cuddling. I didn't crate him as it wasn't far and they said he doesn't do well so I figured less stress. He just needs some time, socialization and his own human. Let's put it this way, they wanted to pole him to get him out of the crate at the HS when AC went to pick him up but they toweled him instead - he does fine on a slip lead but goes cujo when you try and put it on. He is very thin/narrow bodied - it doesn't show up in the pic, but should fill out with exercise and good nutrition. Maybe one year old or so - so sad to see a little dog so young and defensive being handled. Someone groomed/shaved him and he is in pretty nice condition - the nicest looking dog I have ever brought home! I know that seemed strange but I think they may have done this so that when they "lost" him someone would know what he was...?
He will still do the quarantine of course - the timing is perfect with the nueter. I put him in a crate downstairs and he is doing fine. They also said he would only eat soft food HAHAHA and he came home and ate a little bowl of canidae kibble with toppers just fine. I went ahead and just put the sliplead around my arm and petting him with some treats, just slowly let the lead go over his head and voila - worked like a charm. Otherwise, if you even show it to him, he bars his teeth. I thought they were exaggerating - not. And will try a harness to see if that works better. He can keep it on that way too. He can't go out without a lead - he is so narrow he could walk right through the gate just to begin with. I have had shelter pups act defensively when putting on a restraint and when removing from a crate at first and they got over it, so have high hopes he will also and soon. He certainly is food motivated - makes things soooooo much easier!
Will see how it goes. Meantime he is safe and sound and will have to sort the other things out. Oh, am not so sure what he is yet. I do believe he is a purebred crestie but am not convinced he is just a shaved down puff either...
PS Love all the suggestions Spencer, Chaplin - oh and Ramone! How about Sid for Sid Vicious?

So is he going to be Calvin?
Glad to hear he is doing well with you except for the slip lead. But as you say, hope it is only temporary.
You think he is a HHL then? I thought puffer from the pic but up close can be different. |

| He is a cutie. Glad he was hungry and ate for you no problem. He was probably very happy to have his own quite space happier environment. I am sure that with lots of love he will come around to being walked on a lead. Since you have no idea what his past life was like it is hard to know if this is a fear of the leads from AC / HS or if he never did well on them. |
