I wanted to give everyone here a heads up on this.  As some will know, the long-term flea control product called "Program" that I used to use is no longer available over the counter but has been bundled in with heartworm prevention and other meds as Sentinel, so that now you have to get it from your vet.

HOWEVER, today I was looking around to see if I could find a similar product and I learned that a company is making a product with the same active ingredient that is available from Amazon.com. I just bought some.   Here is a link:

This is exactly the same active ingredient, Lufenuron, that was in Program, so it should work just the same, and it's WAY cheaper than the Program was, too.  I'm excited to have this available to me again, and wanted to pass this on to anyone who has been missing this product, which was extremely effective at keeping flea infestations under control.

If your dog is on Sentinel, you don't need to give this too, but if you're using something else for HW prevention and it doesn't contain Lufenuron, this can be a great way to prevent fleas.

Nice, thanks Laura. We don't have to worry about HW in So Ca unless we travel north of Santa Barbara with the dogs. This will be good to try for flea prevention.

Yep, I don't like to give HW prevention year round here, because I don't think they need it during the cooler months.  So I prefer things not bundled like that.  I'm happy to have this option again.

Hi everyone. I'm having a horrible problem with fleas on my crested hairless. I vacuum every morning including all bedding and my comforter since sleeps in his bed on my bed, and bathe Doofie at least once a week sometimes more because it gives him some relief and rub a little coconut oil on him. The vet recommended Vectra which worked great for the first day and then nothing. I wash his bedding every other day. I've been buying Royal Canin kibble for him since he was a pup. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried the Amazon link recommended above but it's no longer available.

Hiya!  Nautica is also a flea magnet!  We tried a few products before finding Comfortis.  It's more expensive but it works for the "super fleas" we have in California.
